C.S. Lewis once said, “Isn’t it funny how day by day nothing changes but when you look back everything is different.”

Days have started running together. Monday feels like Wednesday, and in reality, it’s Thursday. Netflix binging has never been easier and before you know it, you’ve watched thirty-four seasons of Survivor and eaten an entire pan of brownies.

Time is hard to manage, and if one isn’t intentional, time can be easy to lose. Luckily, many individuals in our community have shown, with the right intentions, both time and technology can be used to better ourselves and those around us.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention officially recommended the use of face masks in all public settings to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Along with the 6-foot distancing recommendation, researchers have found that spreading of the virus can be slowed down through proper face coverings. Medical-grade face masks have now become short in supply, and both families and healthcare professionals are scrambling to find protection.

Thankfully, Canadian is filled with individuals that have a heart for serving others. Janis and Molly Northcott, Amanda Poe, and countless others have taken advantage of their free time by reaching out, via Facebook, offering face masks to any in need, for free! How lucky are we, during this pandemic, to live in a time where social media builds community rather than pulling us apart.

Another resource made available through technology is the Canadian, TX COVID-19 Resource Help Facebook page. Individuals throughout our community have offered lawn services, resource information, and simple tips and tricks to make this time easier.

Days may seem redundant, and it’s tempting to let this time pass, but I encourage you to rise. Grab this time and use it. Use it to better yourself and those around you. Encourage more. Love more. When you look back at this time, things will be exactly the same, or completely different. You choose. Continue shining Canadian and WASH YOUR HANDS!
