Canadian River Art Center students Ashley Perry, Brooke Krehbiel, and Hondo Cervantes submitted artist entries for this week’s Back-to-School Special Edition’s cover page. All three artists displayed their creative abilities with their pieces.

Cervantes’ art piece was chosen for the cover page by The Canadian Record staff. Cervantes, who is only 8 years old, painted the year ‘2021’ with different scholastic emblems including math equations, an apple with a worm, a backpack, and a pencil. The attention to dimension, highlights, shadows, and detail makes his piece incredibly captivating, the judges said.

The Canadian River Art Center is tapping into the artistic potential of these young students. Maybe someday, we’ll see their artwork showcased in renowned museums. For now, though, we enjoy the chance to share their talent with our readers in these pages and to show our support and appreciation for these future Picassos, Van Goghs, and Monets.
