Lady Cats softball defeats Booker in 19-0 shutout Thursday

Canadian’s Lady Cat softball team engineered a 19-0 shutout against Booker here at home on Thursday. The Lady Cats scored early and often in the game, putting up 3 points in the first inning, doubling that score in the second, running the bases for 8 more points in the third and 5 more in the fourth.

In five innings of play, the Lady Kiowas were scoreless. Junior Lady Cat pitcher Jessa Bell allowed only one hit and struck-out 11 batters.

On the home side, Canadian’s bats were swinging, tallying 19 runs, 10 hits, and 16 RBIs. Freshman Landry Appel had 3 runs, 1 hit and 3 RBIs in two turns at the plate; Sophomore Shyann Blair posted 2 runs, 2 hits and 5 RBIs in 2 at-bat; Junior Lily Bradford was credited with 3 runs, 1 hit and 1 RBI; and Alexa Escarcega (#2 in photo above) had 1 run, 1 hit and 1 RBI.

In upcoming back-to-back road games, the Lady Cats will play Vernon Northside at 4 pm this Tuesday, February 20, followed by a trip to Hereford on Tuesday, February 27, for a 5 pm showdown versus the Lady Whitefaces.

Their next home game is scheduled for 5 pm on Tuesday, March 5, against Childress’ Lady Cats.
