Teresa Stephenson, 73, of Booker, stepped into her heavenly home Tuesday, September 19, 2023, in Booker.

Funeral services will be at 2 pm on Saturday, September 23, at the Canadian First Baptist Church, with Donald Hill and Daryle Perry officiating. Following the service, interment will be at Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery. Public viewing will be at Canadian’s Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Home on Friday, 9 am to 8 pm, and Saturday, 9 am to 12 noon. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Canadian.

Teresa Arretta Reeves was born July 8, 1950, in Elk City, Oklahoma, to James (Slim) & Lilly Reeves. She graduated from Canadian High School. Teresa met and started dating Kirby Stephenson in 1971, when he moved to Canadian from South Dakota. A year later, they celebrated her birthday by exchanging wedding vows. Kirby and Teresa celebrated 51 years of marriage in July of 2023.  They lived on the Nix Ranch, Mendota Ranch, Canadian Feedyard and then Wolf Creek in 1994 to work for Ben Mathers. 

During those years of raising her family, Teresa worked for Hemphill County Judge Bonnie Conyers, and later was a Hemphill County Deputy Clerk. Kirby and Teresa moved to Booker in 2005. While Kirby was playing in the band, Teresa loved to dance, and her favorite dance partner was Granddad Ed Stephenson. Teresa was a coin collector and she loved spending time with her family and dogs. Her favorite activities included traveling with Kirby and anything her kids were doing, such as rodeo or boating at the lake.

Teresa was preceded in death by her parents, Slim and Lilly Reeves.

Those left to share her memory are her husband, Kirby Stephenson of Booker; four kids: Tari Stephenson of Fritch; Bryan Stephenson and wife, Beverly, of Canadian; Amy Ferguson and husband, Andy, of Waynoka, Oklahoma; Tyler Stephenson and wife, Kelsey, of Lipscomb; four siblings: Laura Reeves of Amarillo; Kathy Mooney of Tyler; Richard Reeves and wife, Rebecca, of Hot Springs, Arkansas; and Lydia Nix and husband, Kevin, of Canadian; 12 grandchildren: Shawn Mayberry, Kaylee Reames, Hannah Mayberry, Darrin, Rachel Pattison and husband John, Ethan Stephenson, Hazel Aycock, Knox Aycock, Tatum Ferguson and fiancé John Stine, Tyson Rose, Wyatt Stephenson, and Hayden Stephenson;   several nieces, nephews and lots of friends.
