Darrin “Nuce” Cook, 52, of Townsville, Queensland, Australia, passed away on Friday, August 4, 2023.

 A memorial service is scheduled for 2 pm, Saturday, August 12, 2023, at the First Christian Church in Canadian, Texas, with Rev. Matt Cook and Pastor Donald Hill, officiating. An additional service in Townsville, Australia, will be announced at a later date.  Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.

 Nuce Cook was born on November 19, 1970, in Richmond, Queensland, Australia to Robert and Bernice Cook. He graduated high school in Townsville, Australia, and soon after, travelled to the USA to pursue a career in bull riding. He attended college at Western Texas College in Snyder, Texas, and also West Texas A&M University in Canyon, Texas, where he was a member of the collegiate rodeo team. He was a member of the PRCA and as noted by PBR Australia, he was “one of the original bull riders to pioneer the USA Intercollegiate and Professional Bull Riding tours, was a PBR World Finals qualifier, and was loved by many.” Nuce was also a seasoned horse trainer and spent his later years working with horses.

He is survived by his parents, Robert and Bernice Cook of Townsville, Australia; sibling, Greg Cook and his wife Anita of Townsville; sibling, Ally Brewer and her husband Danny Brewer of Townsvillle; children, Sawyer Cook and Caroline Cook of Canadian, Texas, and Maggie Cook of Rockhampton, Australia; nieces and nephews, Courtney Hodson, Ashleigh Bush, Alexandra Cappler, Campbell Hodson, Dallas Cook, Taylor Cook, Dalton Cook; and many great-nieces and -nephews, all residing in Australia.
