Robert Brown, 87, of Bronte and Canadian, passed away on Friday, June 16, 2023, in Canadian.

Family visitation will be 3:00 PM Tuesday, June 19, 2023, at Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Canadian. Public visitation will be Monday, 2 PM to 8 PM and Tuesday, 9 AM to 8 PM.

Graveside services will be held at 10 AM on Thursday, June 22, 2023, at Brookshire Cemetery in Runnels County with Rev. Mark Turman, officiating.  Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Canadian.

Robert Melvin Brown was born September 24, 1935, in Albany to Charlie and Willie Mae Brown. He graduated from Bronte High School and attended San Angelo College.  Robert met a beautiful young woman, Lorene Hill from Canadian, they were married August 5, 1957.  Robert and Lorene were married 64 years; they raised their family in the Bronte community.  She preceded him in death on October 3, 2020.  Robert worked as a maintenance supervisor for West Texas Utilities.  He loved being a dad and a husband, working the land, handling cattle, and even bailing hay. The last 20-plus plus years, Robert and Lorene divided their time between Bronte and the Hill family ranch in Roberts County.  Robert was quick to make a longtime friend and be a friend to all.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Willie Mae; and a brother, Charles Ray Brown.

Survivors include son, Miles Brown of Bonte; daughter, Debbie Brown of Canadian; two grandchildren, Monica Gauer of San Antonio and Derrick Gauer of Canadian; two great-grandchildren, Serene Blache and Melvin Stockman; a sister, Flora Mae Brown Flannagan; and numerous nieces and nephews.
