Jessie Monette “Sunny” Hill, 88, of Canadian passed away Tuesday, April 17, 2023, in Canadian. 

Services will be held at 10 am on Saturday, April 22, at the Canadian Church of Christ, with Jake Perkins and Barry Hobson officiating. Burial will follow in Wheeler Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Canadian.

Sunny was born September 25, 1934, in Illinois Bend, Texas to Henry and Alpha Browning. She graduated from Vega High School and at an early age she married the love of her life, Howard Wayne Hill on September 3, 1951, in Vega. He passed away on April 28, 2002, after celebrating 50 years of marriage. As a young married couple, they moved around and lived in several communities in the Texas panhandle. In the mid-70s, they settled in Canadian. Sunny worked for the Canadian Vet Clinic for several years before going to work for Cantrell Oil Company, where she retired from. She was a longtime member of the Canadian Church of Christ. In the late 90s, Sunny took up golf and fell in love with it and became quite a golfer and was a member of the Canadian Golf Association. She enjoyed several hobbies such as sewing, knitting, and growing vegetable and flower gardens. She was a wonderful cook and was always available to cook for the cowboys at the ranches for spring and fall roundup. Sunny had a cheerful spirit and a sweet smile, and people never wondered what she was thinking as she always let it be known. Sunny loved her family, and she will be dearly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Patrick Steven Hill in 1975; and her husband, Howard Hill in 2002.

Survivors include her son, Ronnie W. Hill and wife Cathy of Canadian; two grandchildren, Shawn Hill and wife Cheryl and Travis Hill and wife Ada all of Canadian; great grandchildren, Tiegin Hill, Shaylee Hill, Kendal Hill, Flint Hill, Landon Galla, Easton Galla, Camryn Galla all of Canadian, and Braiden Galla of Seminole; two sisters, Peggy Jennings and husband Philip of Granbury and Nancy Rivera-Dormoy of Sonora, California.
