Family farming makes the grade in Hemphill Co.
Henry Jahnel, a German immigrant, settled in Hemphill County in 1906, raising cattle and crops on his Texas Panhandle land. The farming and ranching tradition continues today with grandson Gary Jahnel, who keeps 4,000 acres in production southeast of Canadian—1,600 of those in crop land.
