The driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, sustained noncritical injuries and was transported to Hemphill County Hospital, where he was treated and released.

Following his medical release, Alvarado-Parra was charged with vehicular intoxicated manslaughter, a second-degree felony, and booked into Hemphill County Jail. His bond was set at $50,000, and he remains in custody. The accident remains under investigation by the Texas Highway Patrol.
