Dr. Tatum Pennington is candidate for Canadian ISD Board of Trustees in May 3 election
Early voting begins on Tuesday, April 22
Dr. Tatum Pennington, Candidate
Canadian ISD Board of Trustees
Canadian ISD should be a place where EVERY student’s learning abilities are nurtured and they are provided with equal opportunity to excel. It should be a location where ALL teachers are supported and given the appropriate tools and training for effective and individualized curriculum administration. Our school district should also be an entity where every parent can openly communicate their concerns in an unbiased environment and feel respected and valued.
I am Dr. Tatum Pennington, and I am running for a position on the Canadian ISD school board. I am a Canadian and Texas Tech graduate and have returned to our rural community to live and raise my family. I have always cherished Canadian and the deep devotion of community it exemplifies. My husband and I are strongly devoted to our faith in God and our family of 5 children that have all attended, struggled, and excelled in the Canadian school system. I have an extensive background in school involvement by serving as an Occupational Therapist in 13 different school districts on the Northeastern side of the Texas Panhandle for the past 20 years. My career has provided me with a wealth of knowledge, experience, and insight to the daily struggles our teacher and students face. I deeply value and strive to model honesty, integrity, loyalty, and transparency in every facet of my life. I am genuinely devoted to our students and their overall well-being and empathize with the rigorous workloads, pressure, and stress our teachers and administrators endure.
If elected I will:
- Prioritize student success for ALL students by advocating for quality curriculum, student safety, mental health and stress management for students, positive classroom environments, and assist in developing innovative, hands-on programs.
- Support ALL staff members and faculty by listening to and addressing their concerns and struggles, extending trust, advocating for fair pay, and providing appropriate professional development.
- Ensure fiscal responsibility that every dollar is spent wisely district wide
- Emphasize community collaboration thru effective communication and positive program implementation and evaluation
- Promote transparency and accountability so all participants of CISD have a solid voice in decision making.
The Texas educational system is facing many unknowns and struggles both at the community and state level. I firmly feel it is not only my civic but personal duty to serve our students, faculty, and community members as we face these challenges and demonstrate high trust leadership in decision making. By exemplifying strong character, demonstrating competence, and upholding the commitment to excellence CISD symbolizes, I would be honored to serve on Canadian’s school board and forge a powerful and accomplished school district.
Vote Tatum Pennington for CISD School Board
