City Council to canvass results of vote to legalize alcohol sales and adopt ordinance in Monday evening meeting

This 10.84-acre tract, which once straddled the city limits on the north edge of town, was purchased by the Toot 'n Totum chain in 2016 in anticipation of a successful countywide local-option vote. When that vote failed, CEO Greg Mitchell withdrew his plans to build a convenience store and truck stop here. Last August, after the petition to call a special election legalizing the sale of alcohol in the city limits succeeded, the land was annexed into the city at Toot ‘n Totum’s request  
The Canadian City Council will meet on Monday, Nov. 15, to canvass the votes in the successful election to legalize alcohol sales within the city limits and to adopt an ordinance revising the city codes accordingly.
