The first Cruise Night was held on Canadian’s Main Street in June 2018. It was the brainstorm of Alex Adcock, who said he was inspired by his lifelong love of anything with a motor, and his many conversations with friends like Mike Leonard and Rick Zenor, who shared similar interests.

That inaugural event attracted dozens of classic cars and pickups, muscle cars and motorcycles, which angled into parking spots lining Main Street, and cozied up to the curb, according to a report in The Canadian Record, “forming a heavy metal rust- and chrome-bedazzled fleet of machinery…from fin to fastback, from coupe to convertible, from chopped to cherry, from barn fresh to basket case.”

That debut also drew as many as 300 sidewalk critics, there to offer their reviews. The crowd lingered most of the evening, despite the formation of storm clouds overhead, sipping lemonade and cherry limes from Brown Bag Roasters, and visiting with friends.

Frequent Cruise-Nighters Dillon Reed and father, James Reed, have announced their plan to revive Cruise Night this Saturday night, April 28—same time, same place—and are inviting the public to join them. With any luck—and hopefully, plenty of interest—it will again become a regular summer event, held on the third Saturday of each month.

As usual, the evening will be unstructured: no rules, no registration, no entry fees, and no deadlines. Even if you don’t have some sweet set of wheels to show off, you are welcome to come and enjoy the show.
