In lieu of its regular monthly meeting, Zybach-Owens Post 56 conducted the Memorial Day Ceremony at the Edith Ford Cemeteries on Monday, May 27.

Participants in the ceremony included John McGarr, commander; Wendy Wright, adjutant; Warren Rivers, finance officer; and members Malouf Abraham, Jason Bradford, David Parnell, and John Rivers. We offer a special appreciation to Albert Godino for volunteering in the color guard.

The members also want to thank the following volunteers for helping to place and remove flags on the graves of the veterans buried at the Catalina, Edith Ford, Gageby, Glazier, and Washita cemeteries: Michael Butler, Dana Byrum, Ashton Cates, Dayla Cates, Lance Cates, Caden Cooke, Cody Cooke, Marie Maupin, Gladene Swires, Jaelynn Swires, Marilee Wright;

Cub Scout Pack 271, to include Packmaster Max Monty, Den Leader Justin Dial, Assistant Den Leader Johnnye Page, Secretary Amy Dial, adult Leader Brandon Page, and Scouts Eli Dial, Aaron Henderson, Micah Monty, Trenton Oatman, Nathanael Page, and Kyle Wright; as well as Kyra Page and Xoe Page.

The next meeting of Post 56 is set for Monday, June 24, at 5:30 pm, at the River Valley Pioneer Museum.

The agenda for June’s meeting is conduct an after-action review of this year’s ceremony, prepare for the Fourth of July parade, and any other Legion related issues that may present itself between now and then.

Preceding the meeting will be a meal for all members, prospective members, and family members.
