Comptroller distributes $977 million in monthly sales tax revenue to local governments

(AUSTIN) — Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced today he will send cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose districts $977.2 million in local sales tax allocations for April, 12.8 percent more than in April 2022.

These allocations are based on sales made in February by businesses that report tax monthly.

Canadian’s $54,229.81 tax rebate for April showed a -6.47 percent decrease from last year’s, but its current year-to-date numbers, $248,664.91, are up 12.47 percent from the 2022 YTD payments of $221,069.72. Booker had a bump of 48.51 percent in the YTD payment of $102,243.62 compared to last year’s $68,845.90. Perryton’s numbers had a 3.26 percent for the current period, from $207,017.53 in 2022 to $213,767.43.

For Miami, the current period showed a rise of 17.34 percent and a -4.89 percent YTD total, when compared to 2022. Higgins’ collection for April of $3,408.11 was 15.86 percent above the same month in 2022. Follett showed a 37.25 percent increase in its net payment when compared to last year’s.
