Comptroller distributes $1.1 billion in monthly sales tax revenue to local governments

(AUSTIN) — Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced today he will send cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose districts $1.1 billion in local sales tax allocations for December, 2.5 percent more than in December 2022. These allocations are based on sales made in October by businesses that report tax monthly.

Canadian’s tax rebate had a dramatic jump of 55.69 percent, with a net payment for this period of $88,542.47, compared to $56,868.33 in 2022. There was a 14.96 percent increase in 2023 payments-to-date when compared to 2022. Perryton’s rebate for this period of $236,643.44 was down slightly by 4.41 percent when compared to 2022, and logged a -3.51 percent decrease in 2023 payments-to-date, compared to 2022. Wheeler experienced an 11.39 percent decrease in the net payment for this period, compared to 2022, but held a 2.72 percent increase in 2023 payments-to-date, compared to 2022.
