Dawn Webb seeks re-election as Pct. 1 Commissioner

I am announcing that I will be seeking re-election as Precinct 1 Hemphill County Commissioner in the 2024 election.

It has been an honor to serve the people of Hemphill County and Precinct 1 since January 2017. I have enjoyed working with the other commissioners and county judge to make the best decisions possible for our citizens.

Citizens of Hemphill County, Texas:

It has been my honor to serve as your Sheriff for the past 4 years.  I would like to announce my intention to run for a second term as your Sheriff.  We have put a great deal of effort into improving how we serve the citizens of Hemphill County, and I would like to continue that work.  I am greatly humbled and honored to have been entrusted with running your Sheriff’s Office the past four years.

County Commissioners to discuss tax rate, budget in Monday public hearing

Hemphill County Commissioners are inviting taxpayers to a public hearing on the proposed tax rate and budget for fiscal year 2023-24. The hearing will begin at 9 am tomorrow, Monday, August 14, in the Commissioners Court meeting room.

The proposed tax rate of $0.450000/$100 is unchanged from last year’s rate. It will, however, bring in more revenue that last year’s rate did, due to an approximately $100 million increase in Hemphill County’s taxable values.

County Commission schedules public hearings on 2023-24 budget, tax rate

The Hemphill County Commissioners will hold a public hearing on at 9 am on Monday, August 14, to discuss and hear public comment on the proposed 2023-2024 fiscal year budget. The hearing will be held in the Commissioners Court meeting room #204 at the Hemphill County Courthouse, 400 Main, in Canadian. The public is welcome to attend.

Commissioner Curt McPherson resigns; Dale Schafer appointed as replacement

Hemphill County Judge Lisa Johnson has appointed Dale Schafer as Precinct 3 Commissioner, replacing Curt McPherson, whose resignation was accepted by the court last Friday, June 2.

“I appreciate everyone who was interested in serving Hemphill County as commissioner,” Judge Johnson said this afternoon, adding, “After much consideration, I’ve appointed Dale Schafer as Precinct 3 Commissioner.”
