A letter to Canadian ISD voters

AS YOU ARE PROBABLY AWARE, Canadian ISD has initiated the process to consolidate with Higgins ISD, our Lipscomb County neighbor to the north. As is often the case when significant change occurs in a community, rumors and false information abound. My intention with this article is to provide some basic facts on this proposed consolidation.

WHILE WE APPRECIATE Mr. Tripplehorn’s thirst for knowledge about the plethora of candidates running for office in the upcoming primary election (see letter to the editor at left), we had a little trouble swallowing his suggestion that there is no source for information about the candidates. There may, in fact, be more sources of information than ever before in history. The real problem is finding one you can trust, and—if you prefer not to live on the internet, or simply lack reliable online access—one you can actually pick up and read.

A Note To Texas Voters: Educate Thyselves

The number of candidates who have filed in next month’s Republican or Democratic primary elections is daunting. Many of the names are not well-known ones—even to those who follow state and national politics closely. And a few candidates may be capitalizing on both voter ignorance and an intimidating 17-inch-long ballot—hoping at least to squeeze out a runoff race.
