The sounds of laughter and plates clattering, and the smell of fresh-fried catfish overwhelm my senses as I enter the Canadian Restaurant. Waitresses with million-dollar smiles dart through ever-changing mazes of people and kids. My own children most likely provide the most challenging obstacles as they plow through the salad bar line, smiling and waving as if they own the place. I, the clucking mother hen, chase after them, settle them down, and chastise their rambunctious behavior, but not once does any customer, waitress, or staff member bat an eye.
The DAR Comancheria Chapter met at the Edith Ford Cemetery on Dec. 17 to lay wreaths on the graves of veterans for Wreaths Across America.
Pamela Hill, the DAR Comancheria Chapter Chair made a presentation to volunteers and onlookers before releasing them to lay wreaths. Volunteers included members of the Canadian High School Softball team.
An extremely cold arctic air mass will invade the region on Thursday. Exceptionally strong winds and cold temperatures will provide very dangerous wind-chill values reaching extreme levels. Temperatures are expected to remain below freezing for three days straight.
