After COVID concerns postponed—and eventually canceled—last year’s district academic UIL competition, Canadian High School students made up for lost time last Wednesday. The highly-motivated CHS contingent claimed six team firstplaces, 13 individual gold medals, and the district UIL championship trophy, qualifying 29 individuals for 19 regional events.

Judge George Briant invited Remelle Farrar to present a program on the current programs of the Canadian Hemphill County EDC. Wendie Cook, who represents the city on the EDC board of directors, introduced Farrar, who has just begun her term as president.

I rarely find recipes for chicken legs that seem interesting. This one from Jacques Pepin’s Simple and Healthy Cooking is absolutely delightful.

We have a core group of volunteers that is helping us process the recentlyacquired Julius C. Born Store collection. They have placed over 600 photographs and postcards into archival sleeves, categorized them, numbered them, and scanned them. Collectively, these volunteers have spent almost 30 hours on this one collection, and we haven’t even started to enter the photographs and postcards into our database, much less process the Born Store artifacts (knickknacks that Born sold in his store).
