Canadian ISD announced the recipients of its 2020-21 Wildcat Excellence Awards last Monday, May 10, by surprising each recipient on their campuses with a certificate, balloons, and a congratulatory cookie.

Canadian Elementary School second-graders participated in the CES Running Club again this year. As club members, the students have 35 minutes to run, walk, or jog the track for a total of 780 minutes throughout the year. Second-graders are asked to set a goal for themselves and to reevaluate that goal as needed. All the second-graders did a fantastic job, with a total of 1,438 miles. For the second time in the last month, a group of citizens led by Sheriff Brent Clapp appeared in Commissioners Court, last Monday, May 10, to request that Hemphill County Commissioners designate this a Second Amendment Safe Haven County.

Last Saturday, the Canadian Community Center hosted our 2nd Annual Bike-A-Thon. Forty riders took to the streets and walking bridge, and rode an astounding 534 miles altogether in just three hours.
