The Canadian track-and-field teams had impressive showings at the Lynx Relays in Spearman last Friday afternoon, and both teams came away with convincing team championships. The Lady Cats stacked up an eye-opening 237 points, 101 points better than secondplace Childress (136).

Canadian’s girls golf team sits in third place and the boys A-team sits in fourth place after the first of the two rounds at the District 1-3A Golf Tournament at the Ross Rogers Golf in Amarillo on The Lady Cats shot a first-round score of 464. Canadian sits 31 strokes behind Bushland (433) for second place and 65 shots back of round-one leader Dalhart (399).

Former Army Ranger Keni Thomas headlines the second day of the 2022 Hemphill County/Texas A&M AgriLife Beef Conference, scheduled for April 26-27 at Jones Pavilion in Canadian. Thomas was a member of the 3rd Ranger Battalion that captured criminal warlord Mohamed Farrar Aidid in a dangerous and deadly mission that was later immortalized in the book and movie, Black Hawk Down.
