The Canadian ISD Board has ordered a special election for the purpose of a voter-approved tax rate election to be held on Nov. 8. CISD has set the overall 2022 tax rate at $1.1646. Even though this tax rate is reduced by almost 11 cents from the 2021 CISD tax rate of $1.2734, a voterapproved tax rate election is required because the board added three golden pennies to the maintenance & operating (M&O) portion of our tax rate.

Rotary was honored to have Superintendent Dr. Lynn Pulliam update the club on the safety and security procedures in place and followed by Canadian ISD. Like many schools, Canadian ISD has implemented the Texas School Defender program.

Fresh off a bye week, the Canadian Wildcats will have one final non-district tune-up before starting district play next week at rival Childress. Two weeks removed from playing their best game of the season in a 56-14 pummeling of Perryton, the Wildcats will once again step up classifications in a major way Friday night, when they take on the Randall High School Raiders from Class 4A, Division I.

Richard “Dick” Wilberforce, a local veteran and member of Canadian’s American Legion Post 56, was honored at the Tri-State Rodeo this Saturday, Sept. 24, in Amarillo.
