Canadian stayed hot last Friday night, shaking off a slow start to roar past the Spearman Lynx, thanks to a 42-3 rout at Lynx Stadium. The Wildcats have put together four wins in a row, improving to 5-2 overall on the year, and more importantly, staying atop the District 3-3A Division II standings at 2-0.

Canadian’s cross-country teams have had plenty of time off to rest up before their biggest meet of the year takes place this coming week. The Wildcats and Lady Cats are looking forward to a trip to Lubbock, as both hope to extend their seasons when they compete in the Region I-3A cross-country meet, set for Tuesday morning, Oct.

Annual District 1 4-H Gold Star Banquet honors 30 area 4-Hers Thirty outstanding 4-H members from the Panhandle area were honored at the 65th Annual Gold Star Banquet hosted by District 1 of the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service on Tuesday, Oct. 18 at Canyon’s West Texas A&M University Alumni Banquet Facility.

I LOVE LITTLE free libraries. If you don’t have these in your neighborhood, they are little boxes that look like tiny houses—not much larger than a big birdhouse—with a glass door on the front and books inside. People leave books they have read and pick up books they want to read, and somehow, the whole thing seems to work out pretty well most of the time.
