AUSTIN – Following a year in which fewer people were killed in work zone crashes in Texas, TxDOT is calling on all drivers to stay vigilant and help continue that downward trend. As National Work Zone Awareness Week kicks off, TxDOT’s “Be Safe. Drive Smart.” campaign is reminding drivers to stay alert and exercise caution when going through road construction and maintenance areas.

The Northeast Panhandle Teachers Federal Credit Union has announced that Canadian High School seniors Jaci Bass, Brooklyn Cochran, Jazmin Dominguez, and Trace Mitchell are four of 20 area students who received $500 scholarships.

The first Cruise Night was held on Canadian’s Main Street in June 2018. It was the brainstorm of Alex Adcock, who said he was inspired by his lifelong love of anything with a motor, and his many conversations with friends like Mike Leonard and Rick Zenor, who shared similar interests.

Dorothea Rose Kelln Morehead Crowell was born August 27, 1934, in Shattuck, Oklahoma, the third daughter of William F. Kelln and Emma Marie Longhofer Kelln. She left from this world at Hemphill County Hospital, Canadian, on April 16, 2023.
