Clock ticking on moving bills
The clock is ticking on getting bills out of the House and to the Texas Senate, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick warned last week in a story in the Austin American-Statesman. Patrick presides over the Senate and is worried many bills that have made it out of House committees but have not gone before the full chamber will not be considered before the session ends.
AUSTIN---Jeffrey Quisenberry, Baker Elementary School Principal, is one of 50 school leaders across Texas selected for a Harvard institute sponsored by the Charles Butt Foundation. The non-profit announced in April it is sponsoring 50 educators from 33 school districts and two charter schools to attend weeklong summer institutes at the Principals’ Center at the Harvard Graduate School of Education.

WASHINGTON—On Friday, May 5, Representative Ronny Jackson (TX-13) announced that seven students from Texas’ 13th Congressional District received appointments to three U.S. Service Academies.
As a Member of Congress, Jackson can nominate students from TX-13 for appointments to the United States Air Force, Naval, Military (West Point), and Merchant Marine Academies. Jackson can also nominate students from the entire State of Texas to the Merchant Marine Academy.
It’s that time of year for young fisherguys and gals! The Children’s Fishing Tournament 2023 will take place on Saturday, June 3, at Lake Fryer in Ochiltree County. The event is hosted annually by the Wolf Creek Improvement Board.
No permits will be needed that day. It is a free fishing day for all ages. Registration begins at 8 am at the pavilion located east of The Lobo restaurant. There is a fee of $1 per contestant. All proceeds are dedicated for improvements to the lake.
