Canadian grad Hudson claims historic 2A state title at Clarendon

SAN ANTONIO— It was a storybook ending for a first-year coach and a team full of underclassmen. In what became a theme at the Alamodome during the state championships last weekend, the Clarendon Broncos used an exciting finish to cap off its first Class 2A state championship in school history, downing the Grapeland Sandies in a thrilling 64-60 victory Saturday morning.

Cats blow out competition at Canadian Relays

The Canadian boys team won the Wildcat Relays at a foggy and drizzly Wildcat Stadium in Canadian, while the girls track-and-field team came away with a third-place finish last Friday. The Wildcats blew away the competition, piling up 222 points, 87 points ahead of runner-up Childress with 135 points.

Senior Lady Cat basketball player Jasmyn Moreno signed with Sul Ross State University this week, to play for Coach Katy Novak and the Lobos. Moreno—accompanied by her parents, Jesus and Vicky Moreno— was honored in a signing ceremony held at Canadian High School Monday.

Canadian varsity, JV tennis teams compete in Amarillo tourneys

Canadian varsity and junior varsity tennis teams competed last Friday at invitational tournaments held in Amarillo. In round-robin play at the Caprock Varsity Invitational, Berkleigh Baileys won 2-of-3 matches in the bronze division of girls singles to place second overall.
