The Canadian track-and-field teams saw a successful afternoon last Thursday during a very competitive District 1-3A/2-3A area track meet in Tulia. The Lady Cats finished third overall, totaling 90 points, and advancing 10 athletes to the Region 1-3A track-and-field meet.

The Canadian Lady Cat softball team suffered a pair of district losses at the hands of Dalhart and Bushland. Canadian fell to Dalhart 10-3 on Saturday, April 14, followed by a 39-0 loss at home to the Lady Falcons the following Tuesday.

Canadian Golf Course Cleanup Day The Canadian Golf Club is asking members and volunteers to participate in a cleanup day on Saturday, April 23. Members and anyone interested in volunteering to help pick up trash and tree limbs at the Canadian Golf Course are welcome.

Canadian girls finished second overall, and the boys finished third at the District 1-3A track-and-field meet in Bushland last Friday and Saturday. The Lady Cats tallied 156 points to district champion Bushland’s 224.5 points, and advanced all three relay teams to the area round.

In last week’s report of the Canadian Middle School athletes’ showing in the April 2 District Meet at River Road, we inadvertently omitted the indivual results of the 7th-Grade Lady Cats. We apologize for the error.

It was a tough week for the Canadian Lady Cat softball team which lost back-to-back District 1-3A games, falling to River Road and Bushland. The Lady Cats lost to Bushland 26-0 last Saturday before a 24-1 loss to River Road on Monday.

Canadian’s Wildcat A golf team placed fourth overall while the Lady Cats took third to wrap up the District 1-3A golf tournament at the Ross Rogers Golf Complex in Amarillo on Monday. The Wildcat A team shot a 36-hole total of 391-379–770.

Canadian’s track-and-field teams had one final tune-up in Childress last Thursday before this weekend’s District 1-3A Track Meet in Bushland. Both the Wildcats and Lady Cats placed second as a team at the Bobcat Relays, which were held at Fair Park Stadium in Childress.

The Lady Cat softball team snapped a long losing skid, winning their first district game in two years in thrilling fashion. Canadian beat Dalhart in an 11-10 final with a walk-off single at home Saturday afternoon.
