Body
For the second consecutive year, CHS Senior Alex Moreno was named the recipient of the Canadian High School Band’s 2020 John Philip Sousa Award. The award was presented by directors James and Daisy Edwards following the annual band banquet, which was videotaped and posted on social media. Moreno was also the winner of the band’s overall Outstanding Musician Award. “Alex is an incredible student, musician, and person,” Edwards said in making the presentation. Alex announced last month that he had committed to Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music in Houston, after receiving offers from several of the top music schools in the United States. He plans to earn a doctorate in orchestral conducting, and ultimately to be teaching at a university or conducting a professional orchestra—or both.

People say you don't know what you've got until it's gone ...

Friday, May 22, was supposed to be my last day of high school, but, unfortunately, Friday, March 13, was the last time I would walk the halls as a Canadian High School student.

One of the things you realize near the end of your senior year is how life will never be exactly the same as it is now. You won’t see the same people every day, or go through the same motions that you have for the past 13 years.
