Raising the Roof

Body
The roof fell in on the church I started attending. The collapse occurred after I’d been coming only a couple of weeks. While I have not always been a regular churchgoer, I thought this was kind of an over-the-top response to my unexpected appearance in church.

What's Cookin' in Canadian

Body
One of the challenges of experimenting with new recipes is finding all the ingredients in our rural setting. Please don’t let that stop you. I used ground turkey in place of ground chicken in this recipe, and because I could not find udon or plain ramen noodles, I chose a wheat noodle called Coil Fideo. All delicious! —KIM McKINNEY

Romantic Impulses

Body
I WAS LOOKING AT MY HAIR in the mirror. “I think I might need a touch-up,” I noted to my husband, Peter. “Hmmm,” Peter replied, without looking up. (Which means, “If you think so honey. I honestly believe you might be able to hold off a week!” I can always count on Peter for a thoughtful response.)
