“There has been some speculation as to the manner in which some of the 25,894 gallons of California port wine held in Canadian in three tank cars “leaked out” and enabled several of the boys to put on a celebration.

What’s Cookin’ in Canadian

Body
Fly-fishing is like therapy for the spirit, a solitary sport that can be enjoyed during these troubling times of social distancing. And it is so nice to have friends willing to share their waterways. Being in nature may be reward enough, but it is even better when you can bring home fresh trout for dinner. Tina Jarosek shared this recipe that she found online at the Crystal Lake Adventures website. The recipe calls for 10 fish fillets but can easily be adjusted.

Last week, the new coronavirus officially arrived in Canadian with a positive test. Thankfully, it was fashionably late and gave us extra time to prepare with hoarding toilet paper. The following words are ones I never in a million years thought I would say: One day, I will tell my grandchildren stories about the “Great Toilet Paper Scare of 2020.”

Local DAR members attend annual conference

Body
Comancheria Chapter NSDAR members Katie Hill (at left with the DAR State Regent), and Pam Hill and Jeri Pundt (at right), attended the 121st annual Texas State Society Daughters of the American Revolution Conference in Dallas, March 11-13. Katie Hill was chosen to be a personal page for the state regent, Mrs. Susan Green Tillman. For more than 100 years, the Daughters of the American Revolution have carried the torch of patriotism. Love of country was the purpose; ancestors who fought for freedom was the bond that connected women from North and South to reunite the country following the Civil War. Today, the DAR continues the tradition of promoting patriotism, education, and historic preservation. From small towns to metropolitan areas, DAR members make a difference in their communities.
