#ColorfulCanadian is kicking off its inaugural year with a show-stopping display of downtown Christmas lights as the official holiday season begins. The memorable Winter Wonderland lightscape illuminating Canadian’s historic Main Street and several other storefronts around town is guaranteed to lift holiday spirits.

In 2020, “home for the holidays” has a new ring to it. With the year’s pandemic challenges, Canadian is re-imagining the holidays, adjusting traditions, and implementing new events. A big dose of Christmas cheer may be the perfect way to brighten up this crazy year.

MEALS ON WHEELS For over 50 years, Canadian’s Meals on Wheels program has relied on the many volunteers who deliver meals each weekday as well as the contributions that support its outreach to senior citizens, to those recuperating from illnesses or surgery, and to others in need. This is one example of the many blessings this community offers.

Hemphill County Hospital District confirmed 77 additional COVID-19 cases this week from tests performed by the hospital laboratory department—15 involving residents of Hemphill County and 62 for out-of-county residents.

WASHINGTON, D.C.—The Elizabeth Dole Foundation and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs announced the nationwide expansion of Respite Relief for Military and Veteran Caregivers, an emergency fund of no-cost, short-term respite care for veteran caregivers struggling under COVID-19. CareLinx, a nationwide professional home-care network, helped launch the fund with the donation of $1 million worth of services. The Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP) also contributed an additional $1 million to increase the number of available care hours, leading to a national expansion.

After receiving a long-awaited, much-anticipated invitation, families of nursing home residents have recently had the pleasure of taking tours of the new Mesa View Senior Living facility. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, there will not be an open house as originally planned.

Hemphill County Hospital District received results of 21 new positive COVID-19 cases in this county during the last seven days. During that same period, 47 new confirmed positive tests were reported by the HCH lab in noncounty residents.
