The Canadian Wildcats’ basketball season came to an end Tuesday night at the hands of No. 4-ranked Shallowater 87-41 in a Class 3A bi-district round matchup at the Caprock Activity Center in Amarillo.

The No. 1-ranked Canadian opened the Class 3A playoffs in expected fashion, as the Lady Cats rolled to a 56-33 victory over Abernathy in a bi-district matchup at Canyon High School on Tuesday night, All that mattered at the end of the night was the bottom line, and that’s what looked best for both teams, especially what amounted to a dominant performance for Canadian.

Despite allowing five runs in the second inning, the Canadian Lady Cat varsity defeated Gruver 28-6 on the road Tuesday. The offensive firepower by Gruver was led by A. Garcia and K. Sannillan, each knocking in runs in the inning.

Somehow, someway, the Canadian Wildcats have found themselves in the postseason. Canadian punched its ticket to the Class 3A playoffs in miraculous fashion, when hope wasn’t on their side just nine days ago.

The No. 1-ranked Canadian Lady Cats finished off District 1-3A in perfect fashion, earning a hard-fought 45-36 road victory against rival Spearman on Tuesday night.

After finding themselves back in the playoff picture with back-to-back wins, the Canadian boys basketball team has faulted over the past two games, leaving work to do if they want to make a push to the postseason.

Not much changed for the Canadian Wildcat football team during the 2022-2024 UIL realignment that happened last Thursday. After the UIL released its cutoff numbers in December, Canadian Athletic Director Chris Koetting knew his team was going to stay in Class 3A Division II.

In a highly anticipated rematch, Canadian’s Lady Cats backed up their No. 1 ranking, grabbing a convincing 60-41 at Bushland in a key District 1-3A showdown on Tuesday night.

The Canadian Wildcat basketball team continues to show improvement, winning two of their last three district games. The Cats got their first dominating victory in District 1-3A, rolling past Highland Park 70-22 last Friday, then pushed Bushland to the limit before falling 44-37 on Tuesday night in Bushland.
