Wildcat Junior Football League teams roll over Childress Saturday

Canadian Wildcat Junior Football’s third- and fourth-grade team won last Saturday’s game versus Childress, 20-12, to remain undefeated. The fifth- and sixth-grade team beat Childress 40-12, and is also working on a near-perfect season, with only one loss. Both teams have two games and a final tournament in Childress left to go. Following this weekend off, the Wildcats will resume play next Saturday versus Shamrock (3rd/4th) and Wellington (5th/6th). Game time: 9 am, 11 am.

Wildcat JV lets one slip away against Randall

Laurie Ezzell Brown | The Record Canadian’s Wildcat junior varsity owned a 7-0 lead over Randall at halftime of last Thursday’s contest, but watched it slip away in the second half and were unable to answer two Raider touchdowns in a 7-14 final. Following a scoreless first quarter, a 35-yard touchdown pass from Keelan Baileys to Camden Cook, followed by a Jose Valenzuela extra-point boot, lit up the scoreboard for the first and only time before halftime.

GAME PREVIEW: Canadian vs. Randall Raiders

Fresh off a bye week, the Canadian Wildcats will have one final non-district tune-up before starting district play next week at rival Childress. Two weeks removed from playing their best game of the season in a 56-14 pummeling of Perryton, the Wildcats will once again step up classifications in a major way Friday night, when they take on the Randall High School Raiders from Class 4A, Division I.

Canadian’s Junior League Wildcats showed no mercy against their host team, the Clarendon Broncos, last Saturday. The 5/6 Cats posted a 36-10 win over Clarendon, while the 3/4 Cats shut their opponents out in a 30-0 victory.

This was the game the Canadian Wildcats and their fans have been waiting for. After frustrating back-to-back losses, the Wildcats hushed doubters by putting a complete game together in a blistering 56-14 Homecoming victory over Perryton last Friday at Wildcat Stadium.
