Buoyed by the recent success of August’s Main Street dance, and by comments from Canadian High School alumni here for September’s well-attended homecoming events at Wildcat Stadium, members of the Canadian Education Foundation and CHS Ex-Student Association have decided to join forces, share resources and make some changes in plans for next year’s All-School Reunion.
Eight athletes will represent Canadian High School in the 2024 UIL Cross Country State Meet, which will be held Friday and Saturday, November 1-2, at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock. The Lady Wildcat team of Seniors Brooklyn Beedy, Arionna Black, Elizabeth Guerrero, Payton Lee, and Konnar McClendon, Junior Kimora Morales and Freshman Kate Escarcega, will kick off their 3A Girls run at 9:30 am Saturday, followed by Wildcat Sophomore Joseph Dominguez, who will compete individually among 3A Boys at 10 am.
CANYON—A prominent advocate of life on the Great Plains will discuss regional pride at an upcoming event at West Texas A&M University.
Clay Jenkinson, host of NPR’s “Listening to America” (previously “The Thomas Jefferson Hour”), will speak at 7 p.m. Nov. 7 in Legacy Hall in the Jack B. Kelley Student Center on WT’s Canyon campus.

The Lady Cat Varsity cross-country team won Canadian’s Annual Cross Country Meet here last Saturday for the third straight year. Konnar McClendon set a new course record with a blistering time of 10:59.
Finishing in second place, reported Coach Aaron Marks, was traditional powerhouse Gruver Lady Greyhounds.
Canadian’s Variety Girls team is made up of Konnar McClendon, Arizona Black, Elizabeth Guerrero, Brooklyn Beedy, Payton Lee, Kimora Morales, and Kate Escarcega.
