In their final event of the 2021-22 school year, the Canadian Wildcat Band held an awards ceremony, to recognize students’ special accomplishments. Band Directors James and Daisy Edwards presented several previously unrecognized honors—some “just for fun” and others more serious—as they closed out their careers at Canadian ISD.

Members of the Canadian Elementary School second-grade running club finished up the year, running a total of 1,284 miles. Students run at the track 22 times a year for 35 minutes, focusing on lifetime fitness and goal-setting. This is the 10th year that CES has participated in running club. Seventy-four eighth-grade students will receive diplomas signifying their graduation from Canadian Middle School tomorrow evening (Friday, May 20), in commencement ceremonies to be held at the Canadian High School gymnasium.

Sixty Canadian High School seniors will receive the diplomas during the Saturday, May 21, commencement ceremony held at Wildcat Stadium. The ceremony will begin at 10 am with the class processional onto the field, followed by an invocation presented by Maude Culwell, and a welcome by Logan Gatlin.

After advancing to state in several different academic contests, Canadian High School students spent the weekend of May 6-7 competing at the UIL 3A state academic meet. Three students placed individually in the top six—a first in some of the events.

Canadian FFA students held their annual banquet at CES on Monday, May 9, culminating in the presentation of two top honors: the Star Greenhand Award to Jackson Poe, and the Star Chapter Degree to co-recipients Karson Thompson and Aubrie Poe.
