The Canadian Wildcat boys track and field team held off Bushland to claim the District 1-3A championship, while the Lady Cats came in third at Falcons Stadium in Bushland on Thursday. The Wildcats racked up 182 team points to Bushland’s 165 points to claim the district title.

Hemphill County Sheriff’s officers gathered in front of the Law Enforcement Center last Thursday to pay tribute to DPS Trooper Chad Walker, who was killed in the line of duty on Wednesday, March 31.

The Region 1 Wildlife Management and Area 1 Range Evaluation contests were held at the Matador Wildlife Management Area on Monday. The range-evaluation team of Peyton Dockray, Jessica Stiner, and Cescilly Beach (at top) placed first. The wildlife-management team of Callie Vinson, Peyton Dockray, Aubrie Poe, and Karson Thompson (below) placed second in the region. Both teams will be advancing to state competition later this month.
