Hemphill County Hospital CEO Christy Francis told Rotarians last week about the process that brought about our new Mesa View Senior Living. When it became evident that our beloved Edward Abraham Memorial Nursing Home was structurally-compromised, the hospital determined it was time to look into building a new facility.

I agree with Michael Shannon’s comment that risotto can be a pain in the you-know-what. Once you start cooking the risotto, you must stir constantly. However, I can testify that the effort is so worth it. If there had been any leftovers, I would have smuggled them home in my purse.

I CANNOT EXPRESS how refreshing it is to have schoolchildren visit us again! We had Baker Elementary’s third and fourth grades visit us on Tuesday, April 6. Then, later that week, Lefors Elementary’s third, fourth, and fifth grades visited both the museum and The Citadelle on Friday, April 9. We have a few more school visits scheduled for the rest of the school year, and we couldn’t be happier!

A pair of Canadian golfers will try and make their mark at the upcoming Region 1-3A Golf Tournament set for the Shady Oaks Golf Course in Baird starting Monday. Junior Briley Merket and sophomore Ben Bryant each punched tickets to Regional by qualifying as individuals at last month’s District 1-3A Golf Tournament.
