The Canadian girls cross-country team held off Bushland by 1 point to claim the District 1-3A cross-country championship on Wednesday afternoon at the Palo Duro Lake Park in Spearman. Canadian tallied 49 points to edge Bushland, with 50 points, to capture the district crown.

JUNIOR VARSITY WILDCATS Canadian’s Wildcat junior varsity rolled out 343 yards of total offense to only 18 total yards for their hosts last Thursday evening at Highland Park. Given those stats, the lopsided 42-0 Canadian win was no surprise to anyone.

Voters will begin casting early ballots next Monday, Oct. 18, in both the statewide constitutional amendment election, and in the special called election to fill one unexpired term on the Canadian ISD board of trustees.

In order to vote, citizens must be on the official list of registered voters. Check registration status at votetexas.gov.

Voters may use one of seven forms of photo ID, listed below.

• Texas driver’s license.

• Texas Election Identification Certificate.

• Texas Personal Identification Card issued by the Department of Public Safety (DPS).
