Janet Guthrie introduced David Godino as our program speaker last week. Of course, we all know David from the time he was a little boy. Janet said they were neighbors when David was young, and her dog ate all his toys.

When I was 8 or 9, I played a game that I invented with my friends. On index cards, alphabetized in a recipe box, were written descriptions of fictional ailments, each with a ridiculous name and an equally ridiculous cure.

Amanda Phillips looked at a traditional cabbage soup recipe and made it her own to rave reviews! The original recipe called for diced potatoes, and they can easily be added to make a hardier soup. Once the basics are combined, it is a taste-as-you-go soup. Like many good cooks, she does not measure. A shake of this, a dash of that… start with a light hand and add as flavors combine. Enjoy!

JUNIOR VARSITY The Canadian Wildcat junior varsity fended off the Friona Chieftains for three quarters while they built up a daunting 35-0 lead. By the time Friona got into the end zone— twice, in the final period—it was too little, and much too late, and the Cats loaded up the buses, carrying a 35-14 win.
