LUBBOCK— The Canadian girls cross country team made history this week, becoming the first team in program history to qualify for the University Interscholastic League Class 3A state cross country meet set for Old Setters Park in Round Rock on Nov 5-6.

The Canadian Wildcat Band left Canadian well before the sun rose Saturday morning en route to Lubbock’s Lowrey Field and the 3A, Area A Marching Band Competition. They knew they might have a long day ahead. Little did they know just how long.

The Canadian Wildcats’ winning ways continued as they started strong, and then held off a valiant second-half charge from Friona for a 33-27 victory in a key District 3-3A Division II showdown last Friday night at Wildcat Stadium.
