CANADIANS LIKE TO CLAIM that we hosted the first rodeo in Texas, but Pecos, Texas, has also long claimed the title of First Rodeo Town. I haven’t had the opportunity to review their “evidence,” but our documentation of the first rodeo in Canadian shows that 1888 was the year we started this annual celebration. Although we may not be the “first” rodeo in Texas, no one could argue that ours is one of the best celebrations around, and it has been since the beginning!
