Just over 1,000 miles into their mission to bring public attention to the tragedy of suicide in this country, a group of about two dozen motorcyclists pulled into the Oasis Truck Stop parking lot just outside of Canadian. The stop was brief—just long enough to fill their tanks and shake the miles off.

If you ever judged another by their outward appearance, then you needed to be in the audience at the Texas Crown Performance Hall on Friday, July 1, for this Missoula Children’s Theatre production of The Emperor’s New Clothes. The Emperor, played by Mirabelle Brown, wanted to impress her subjects and friends and was told a fancy new wardrobe was the way to go. Trouble followed as the people of the kingdom felt their beloved Emperor no longer cared for them.

Six Lady Cat softball players were recently honored as members of the 2022 1-3A Softball All-District team. Freshman infielder Lilly Bradford was the sole Lady Cat named to the first team. Second-team selections included three CHS juniors—pitcher Leah Moreno, and infielders Haeleigh Thompson and Jaime Salazar—as well as two freshmen, catcher Kenzie Flowers and outfielder Carlie Renfro. Bushland senior Jillian Howell was named MVP. River Road’s Carolyn Kovall, a freshman, was named Newcomer of the Year. Her teammate, freshman Ava Sharp, shared the honor of Co-Offensive Player of the Year with Bushland sophomore Abby Howell.
