HCH auditor reveals good year and advises board on coming changes in healthcare

CPA Brent Fuller with Durbin & Co., LLP told the Hemphill County Hospital board that the district had a very good year of operation. In the May 3 audit report, Fuller said that $4 million in cash had been spent during FY 2021. It was invested back into the district in the form of assets (construction projects), supplies and inventory, salaries, expenses—and payment of $500,000 in long-term debt. The district’s total net position increased by $1.6 million.

State comptroller distributes $1B in sales tax revenue

AUSTIN—Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced today he will send cities, counties, transit systems, and special-purpose taxing districts $1.03 billion in local sales tax allocations for July, 15.3 percent more than in July 2021. These allocations are based on sales made in May by businesses that report tax monthly.

Newly-proposed state legislation would restrict their ability to cast a ballot, according to a new report by the nonpartisan election policy group Secure Democracy USA.
