What's Cookin' in Canadian | Green Shrimp Curry

Body
My sister and I love Thai food, and she whipped up this delicious curry in under 30 minutes! The amount of green curry paste will determine the heat index. We like it spicy and went with 3 tablespoons. This dish can be made with shrimp, chicken, or just loads of vegetables. Kaffir lime leaves, that add much to this dish, can be purchased online.

Joann Billings celebrates Independence Day

Body
As Joann Billings wakes up in her home in Canadian, she wonders what the day will bring. She might spend the morning watering her vegetable garden; make some progress on her latest needlepoint, a portrait of wildflowers in a meadow; and spend some time playing with her West Highland Terrier, Allie. At some point, several of her grandchildren will drift in her front door, wondering if there’s any of Ma’s homemade snacks on hand. In the afternoon, she will work on sewing clothing protectors for the residents at the Edward Abraham Nursing Home.

Just what the doctors ordered

Body
Doug Crouch with Canadian Vet Clinic was to be the program, but his patients were not cooperating, so he was MIA. Since Doug was held captive by a demanding cow, two fellow veterinarians of Canadian Vet Clinic, Brock and Natalie Irwin, jumped to the rescue and started the program.

The Postscript: New Slippers

Body
“New Slippers” I’ve worn out a pair of slippers. To be fair, I wear slippers quite a bit under normal circumstances, but over the past four months, my slipper use has exceeded previous records.

The following is an excerpt of, Of Science, a brief sketch of the public service of George Davidson. When I began to read, I realized it was anything but brief. The article is taken from Mining and Scientific Press, August 1885. The heading reads, “A Sketch of Our Most Prominent Pacific Coast Scientist.”

MUSEUM HAPPENINGS

The museum is open, and we have the appropriate practices in place to keep everyone safe. We also hope everyone is practicing common-sense safety measures. Due to the pandemic, our activities are greatly reduced, so I have no news on our activities.

One of the first ranches in this area was established by H.W. Cresswell.

To continue summer fun, Canadian entertainment adapts

Body
It has been months of quarantine for many of us, and the urge to get out of the house and enjoy the warmer weather is palpable. Summer during COVID-19 isn’t quite the same as years past, but that doesn’t mean summer 2020 has to be a bummer. There are still many family-friendly activities in Canadian to be enjoyed this season.

Hanes and Betts take Rotary to the beach

Body
Curt McPherson hosted Lacy Hanes and Meagan Betts of Canadian River Beach Club as our program. Lacy gave a brief background on the CRBC, stating that a loose CRBC started in 2008 with a chili cook-off to help raise money for state football rings. Then, in the fall of 2009, John Julian, L.H. Webb, and Doug Benge had approaching birthdays. Instead of having a private party, they decided to have a communitywide calf fry to celebrate and give back to Canadian. That year, they had 28 teams and raised $2,000 for the Ministerial Alliance, establishing the annual Calf Fry Cook-off as we now know it.
