Audrey Cockrell, 85, of Canadian, died June 16, 2019, in Canadian. A funeral service was held at 2 pm on Wednesday, June 19, at the River Ministries Church, with Pastor Donald Hill officiating. Burial followed at the Edith Ford Memorial Cemeteries under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Canadian.

Audrey was born Oct. 7, 1933, in Canadian, to Alvin and Ruby Miller. She attended schools in Canadian. Audrey married B.G. Cockrell on April 2, 1950. They made Canadian their home after a few years traveling with the Santa Fe Railroad. He preceded her in death on July 25, 2013. Audrey worked many years for Canadian Pharmacy, and she enjoyed crocheting and watching the Dallas Cowboys play. Audrey was well-known for her husband’s creation, “Aud,” that proudly stands on a hill south of Canadian welcoming all visitors. “Aud” is a standing memorial of their love!

Audrey was also preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Ralph Gross, Jim Miller, Bill Miller, and Jack Miller; a son, Bobby Gene Cockrell Jr.; and a grandson, Anthony Cockrell.

Survivors include her daughter, Dian Zenor and husband Bill of Canadian; a son, Darrell Cockrell of Canadian; a bonus son, Charlie McMordie of Amarillo; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren; a sister, Joyce Mathis; and a brother, Gene Miller.
