OBITUARY: KATHLEEN JANE MARTINDALE

Body

Kathleen Jane Martindale, 87, of Amarillo, passed away on Tuesday, October 1, 2024. Memorial services will be held at 2 pm Wednesday, October 9, at First Baptist Church Sanctuary, 1208 S. Tyler St., with Pastor Mike Martindale and Dr. Howard Batson officiating.

Kathleen was born August 15, 1937 in Canadian, to Thomas and Josephine Riley. She graduated from Canadian High School, and went on to earn a bachelor degree in Education from West Texas State University. Kathleen married her husband, Jerry Martindale on August 20, 1960 in Canadian.

Shirley Marie Baker, 88, of Amarillo formally of Canadian passed away August 22, 2024.

George Wayne Vinson, 91, of Amarillo, Texas passed away on August 22, 2024. 

Memorial services will be at 2:30 pm on Sunday, August 25, 2024, at the Bell Avenue Church of Christ in Amarillo with Eddie Hankins, Milton Miller, and Tommy Key. A private family burial will take place on Monday, August 26, at Washita Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.

Joe Robert Grist, Sr. was born on March 30, 1966 in Amarillo, Texas. Joe passed away on August 13, 2024 in Snyder, Texas at the age of 58.

A visitation for Joe will be held Friday, August 23, from 6-8 pm at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 Highway 277 South, Abilene, Texas 79606. A celebration of life will occur at 10 am on Saturday, August 24, at 5701 Highway 277 South, Abilene, Texas 79606. Interment will follow services at Abilene Municipal Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest with his mother and brother.

Martha Elizabeth “Beth” Beene Morris, 93, of Vega, entered heaven Saturday, June 22, 2024. 

Beth will be available for viewing from 10 am to 8 pm, Tuesday, June 25, with a visitation from 5 to 7 pm at Vega Methodist Church, 208 North 9th Street. Services will be at 10 am, Wednesday, June 26, at the Vega Methodist Church, with Roger Morris and Guy Walker of Barn Church officiating. The burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Vega, Texas.

Texas DAR District 1 to dedicate 250 Patriots Marker May 27 in Amarillo

AMARILLO, TEXAS – The Texas Society Daughters of the American Revolution, District 1 will commemorate the contributions of the men and women of the American Revolution by dedicating their DAR America 250 Patriots Marker at 1 P.M., Memorial Day, Monday, May 27, 2024, on the grounds of the Texas Panhandle War Memorial Center Park, 4111 S. Georgia St. Amarillo, followed by a reception.

The DAR dedication will follow the TPWM Memorial Day Ceremony in their park at 11:30 am.

Stacey Ann Eubank, 45 of Amarillo stepped into the arms of Jesus, Thursday, February 15, 2024, in Amarillo.

Memorial services will be held at 2 pm Tuesday, February 20, in Amarillo at the Loft Church with Rick Chadick officiating. Viewing will be at Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Canadian, on Tuesday, February 20, from 9 am-8 pm, with family and friend visitation from 6 pm-7:30 pm.

Charles Philip “Phil” Rogers, 78, passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2024. Memorial services will be on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at 2 p.m. at Lighthouse Funeral Home in Amarillo, Texas.

Phil was born on July 27, 1945, in Wellington, to Ted and Virginia Rogers. He graduated from Canadian High School as Valedictorian of the Class of 1963, and attended the University of Texas in Austin. He worked as a computer technician at NCR for 40 years, retiring in 2005.
