Texas Oil and Gas upstream jobs grow by 4,500 in March

AUSTIN – According to newly released data from the Texas Workforce Commission, employment in the upstream sector of the Texas oil and gas industry grew by 4,500 jobs in March, representing the highest single month growth in upstream jobs since June of 2011.

Generosity from across the nation filled four Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service Animal Supply Points since Feb. 28 in the wake of the Smokehouse Creek, Windy Deuce and Grapevine Creek wildfires, which burned over 1.2 million acres to become the largest wildfire in Texas history.

Texas Oil and Gas production reaches new highs in 2023

AUSTIN – The state’s major energy industry reached new peaks last year with records set for both oil and gas production. The Railroad Commission regulates the Texas oil and gas industry and tallies production reports submitted by operators.  

Oil production hit a record 1.92 billion barrels in 2023, which was 51 million barrels more than the previous record. Operators produced 12.01 trillion cubic feet of natural gas in 2023, beating the previous record by more than 13%.

Hemphill County FSA accepting Emergency Conservation Program applications

CANADIAN -- U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Farm Service Agency (FSA) Hemphill County Executive Director Janee Cross today announced that Hemphill County is accepting applications for the Emergency Conservation Program (ECP) to address damages from the Smokehouse Creek Wildfire that occurred in February. ECP signup will begin on April 9, 2024, and end on June 10, 2024.
