Visitors and locals alike enjoyed the picture- perfect fall weather this weekend. People strolled Main Street in the crisp morning air, admired shiny rides at the car show, shopped at the amazing craft show, and even took to the air to view it all from 200 feet. Business owners and spectators enjoyed the energy and liveliness of Canadian, enjoying the extra boost in activity that the festival brought.

The Texas Well Owner Network is hosting a “Well-Educated” water well screening on Tuesday, Nov. 15, in Canadian for area residents. The TWON program is for Texas residents who depend on household wells for their water needs.

The Canadian High School art class received a special guest, George Mendoza, on Thursday, Sept. 29, whose exhibit, Colors of the Wind, is currently on display at the Citadelle Museum until November. After a tour of his exhibit, Mendoza spent time speaking with art students in Karol Ann Michelson’s advanced art class about his disability, his art, and how he used obstacles in his life as motivation.

This year, for the first time, two historic local churches will be included in Canadian’s Fall Foliage Festival Tour of Homes. In addition to the churches, the beautiful homes of Alan and Laurie Hale, at 919 South 4th St., and Beverly and Bryan Stephenson, at 1511 Locust, will also be open for the tour.

Voters simply need to enter their address to see how candidates for statewide offices, as well as their district candidates for State Board of Education and Court of Appeals, responded to unbiased questions posed by the League.

The Hemphill County Hospital District last week announced updates to its COVID-19 mask policy. The new policy follows new recommendations outlined and updated on Sept. 23 by the Centers for Disease Control, in a report titled, Interim Infection Prevention and Control Recommendations for Healthcare Personnel during the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) Pandemic.
