Join Panhandle PBS and Amarillo Public Library for a preview screening of excerpts from ‘The American Buffalo’

Amarillo Public Library and Panhandle PBS are hosting a free preview screening of excerpts from the new Ken Burns film, “The American Buffalo.” The event will take place Thursday, October 12, at the Southwest Branch Library, 6801 SW 45th Ave. in Amarillo. Doors will open at 5:30 pm with the film preview starting at 6 pm. Refreshments will be provided.

American Legion Post 56 plans inaugural Field of Honor event

Members of Canadian’s American Legion Zybach-Owens Post 56 are planning the inaugural presentation of the Canadian Bridge of Honor to be held on July 1-7, 2024, at the Canadian River Wagon Bridge. 

Canadian’s tribute to this area’s servicemen and women—and to others who have honorably served their country—will be brought to vivid life with a panoramic display of United States flags flying in solemn formation on the historic Wagon Bridge during the 2024 July 4th celebration.

Texas Secretary of State: November 7 Constitutional Amendment Election reminder

AUSTIN—Texas Secretary of State Jane Nelson is reminding Texans to prepare for the upcoming constitutional amendment election on November 7.

“Texans will have the opportunity to vote on 14 proposed amendments to the state constitution, and some local governments will also hold elections this November,” said Nelson. “Now is a good time to take note of upcoming election deadlines and prepare.”

The term “Critical Mass” means the smallest amount of fissionable material that, when amassed, will sustain a self-supporting chain reaction. CRITICAL MASS was a collaborative photo/text/video installation that takes as its subject the worlds of scientists and Native Americans as they intersected at the home of Edith Warner during the making of the first atomic bomb in 1944 in Los Alamos, New Mexico.
