The Perryton Area Parkinson’s Disease Support Group will meet at noon on Friday, April, 8 at New Hope Fellowship, 2821 S. Ash in Perryton. Lunch will be provided. The program will be given by Nikki Harris, from Acorda. Anyone who has Parkinson’s or whose family member suffers with it is welcome to come and hear about this new help for PD patients. DALLAS—The Texas Lyceum’s annual poll, published on April 1, finds a majority of Texans saying that they spend too much on housing and that the cost of living for necessities in the area where they live is either “poor” or “terrible.” Concerns about costs come as the state grapples with ongoing economic troubles stemming from the continued fallout from the coronavirus pandemic, ongoing inflationary concerns, and rising energy prices exacerbated by Russia’s aggression against Ukraine.

Social Security Administration resumes in-person services

On Thursday, April 7, Social Security offices will restore in-person services for the first time since offices were closed during the COVID-19 pandemic. In-person services will include those without an appointment, according to Kilolo Kijakazi, acting SSA commissioner.

Former Army Ranger Keni Thomas headlines the second day of the 2022 Hemphill County/Texas A&M AgriLife Beef Conference, scheduled for April 26-27 at Jones Pavilion in Canadian. Thomas was a member of the 3rd Ranger Battalion that captured criminal warlord Mohamed Farrar Aidid in a dangerous and deadly mission that was later immortalized in the book and movie, Black Hawk Down.
